Is It Worth It

Aftermath is worthwhile if you still play Battlefield 3 multiplayer and want maps that feel faster and more chaotic than the base game’s larger battlefields. Scavenger gives it a different rhythm, and the setting stands out from the main map rotation.

If you mostly care about single-player or only drop into multiplayer occasionally, this is optional. It is a solid expansion, but not an essential one unless you want more close-quarters matches and a fresh multiplayer mode.

Battlefield 3: Armored Kill

Is It Worth It

If you liked Battlefield 3 most when it leaned into big maps, long sightlines, and vehicle-heavy battles, this is one of the more worthwhile expansions. It changes the feel of multiplayer in a clear way instead of just offering a few extra arenas.

If you prefer tighter infantry matches, Armored Kill is much less essential. Its maps are intentionally built for scale, so the value depends heavily on whether tanks and aircraft are the reason you play.

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters

Battlefield 3: Close Quarters is a multiplayer expansion built around tight indoor combat instead of the base game’s larger vehicle-heavy maps. It adds four compact maps focused on infantry fights, along with new weapons, assignments, dog tags, and the Conquest Domination mode, which is a faster, smaller-scale take on Conquest.

The emphasis here is on quick matches, short sightlines, and heavy destruction inside offices, apartments, and other enclosed spaces. If you prefer shotguns, carbines, and constant action over tanks and jets, this DLC has a very different feel from the main game.

Is It Worth It

Close Quarters is worth it if you want Battlefield 3 to play more like a fast infantry shooter for a while. The maps are distinct, the pace is quicker, and it works well for shorter sessions since you can jump straight into firefights without long travel times.

It is optional rather than essential. If your favorite part of Battlefield is large-scale combined arms combat, this is a side mode, not a core upgrade. If you mostly play infantry and want something more immediate, it is one of the more worthwhile DLC packs for the game.

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand

Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand is a substantial multiplayer expansion built around four classic Battlefield 2 maps reworked in the Battlefield 3 engine: Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula. It also includes classic vehicles, new weapons, extra dog tags, and assignments that unlock gear through multiplayer play.

This is not a story add-on. Its value is in map variety and nostalgia, with large, vehicle-friendly battlefields that fit Battlefield 3’s core Conquest and team-based multiplayer well.

Is It Worth It

If you spend real time in Battlefield 3 multiplayer, this is one of the more worthwhile expansions because it drops neatly into the base game and gives you several well-known maps with a different feel from the launch lineup. It meaningfully broadens the rotation rather than feeling like a side mode you will ignore.

If you mostly play the campaign or only jump into multiplayer occasionally, it is easier to skip. Back to Karkand is best treated as a multiplayer map pack for players who want more of Battlefield 3’s main experience, not a separate reason to come back on its own.
